Shabby Chic Christmas Tree Ornaments You Can Make from Existing Ornaments

You can turn any Christmas tree ornament into a shabby chic ornament in a matter of minutes. If you love the shabby chic look, but don't want to invest in all brand new Christmas ornaments, then try these simple tricks for updating and remaking existing ornaments.
All of these tips and tricks are great ways to create simple shabby chic white ornaments.
Spray on Antique White Paint
Check out your local home improvement store for this simple shabby chic Christmas ornament makeover. They sell great spray kits that are an antique white finish.
This paint can be applied to almost any metal, plastic or glass surface. The kit will cost you about $10, but should cover about 40 to 50 Christmas ornaments.
Lace Ribbon
White lace ribbon, or any shabby chic ribbon is an easy way to transform shiny and colorful Christmas ball ornaments into shabby chic Christmas ornaments.
Plug in the hot glue gun and start and the top to the ornament Place a tiny glob of glue on the back of the top, press the shabby chic ribbon it in place and start wrapping the ribbon around the ornament working your way down.
When you get to the bottom you need to trim the ribbon and glue the end down. You may also need to periodically apply glue ass you wind the ribbon.
Primer
Leftover primer from paint jobs in the house is one of my other favorite ways to create shabby chic Christmas tree ornament's You can prime any ornament, literally!
Try taking all of your ornaments and painting them with with primer.
Now, use a paint brush dipped in stain or even a light pain color and dry brush over the ornaments. The paint or stain will highlight details in the ornaments.
If you have tons of detailed ornaments you may find a spray on primer is you best option.
You can also use a sponge to apply the primer or paint. This will allow you to add thin layers of white paint to start covering the colorful details.
Decoupage
Try transforming your ornaments into shabby chic ornaments with decoupage and whit tissue paper. You will need a few layers, but it is worth it.
Once the decoupage dries you can dry brush paint on the ornaments or even a little silver leaf! This look is super elegant.
